A memorial night is to be held during the month of November at all greyhound tracks to commemorate all those people connected to our greyhound community who have died since the pandemic began in February 2020. We also remember and thank those who worked in all frontline services especially in our health services during this exceptionally difficult period.

Many of the greyhound community suffered a family bereavement during COVID and due to Lockdowns and various public gathering constrictions we did not get an opportunity to meet,to grieve together, to mark the passing of our family member, our neighbour or our friends because funerals were held privately and with no mourners or public attendance allowed.

All GOBAS are asked to work with track management to organize a Memorial night at their local stadium. We will remember all those lost since February 2020 by printing the names/ photo and a couple of lines of remembrance on the race card.

Anyone connected to the greyhound community that wishes to mark the passing of a family member/ friend or neighbour should contact one of the GOBA committee members at your local track or leave the request into the office at the stadium.

All tracks will shortly advertise the date of the Memorial night on The Sporting Press.

Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.
